The original aim of Microsoft seemed to be that Windows could be used for both home and business users.  However when the transition from Windows 3.x took place many home users experienced problems trying to run games written for MSDOS and other applications.  Microsoft released Windows 95 still based on the DOS operating system apposed to NT kernel.
